Joint Contribution

A contribution made by more than one person on a single check or other written instrument.

Joint Fundraising

Fundraising conducted jointly by a political committee and one or more other political committees or unregistered organizations. Joint fundraising is often conducted between a principal campaign committee and a political party committee.

Joint Fundraising Committee (JFC)

A fundraising committee set up by two or more candidates, political parties or a combination of the two to raise money together. All beneficiaries of a joint fundraising committee share the cost of hosting fundraisers.

Jungle Primary

A primary election in which all candidates for elected office run in the same primary regardless of political party. The top two candidates who receive the most votes advance to the next round, similar to a runoff election. However, there is no separate nomination process for candidates before the first round, and parties cannot narrow the field. In fact, it is entirely possible that two candidates of the same party could advance to the second round. Also known as the “Nonpartisan Blanket Primary” or “Top Two Primary.”

Junket

A pleasure trip taken by politicians with expenses paid for with public funds.
